Reading and Spelling Simple Words
Six-episode playlist for Practicing Reading Simple Words.
Can your child learn to read and spell dozens of simple words if they only know six letter sounds?
In this six-episode playlist, kids will learn the letter sounds for s, a (short), t, p, i (short), and n.
After learning the first three sounds, they will have an opportunity to practice blending and reading simple words. With each sound learned in this series, more simple words to read and spell will be added.
Check out the playlist below. Be sure to watch it in sequence, starting with episode 1. Each video also includes fun facts about reptiles, word and picture of the day, letter formation, and interactive activities to support learning the letter and sound of the day.
After your child has practiced reading the words in this series, think about some other simple words they might read using these six letter sounds.
**This video series is not meant to replace developmentally appropriate formal evidence-based literacy instruction. It is a resource to be used supplementally as an enrichment activity and with support from a parent/caregiver or early childhood educator.
